Do Tri

It appears I have a terminal case of M-E-S-S (Maniac Endurance Sports Syndrome).

Last year I experienced my first marathon while running the fabulous new Las Vegas Marathon, with a finishing time just barely under the okay, you're cut-off time. .. and WOW! what an experience it was.

Picture 6:00am - Fifteen thousand people gathered together for 26.2 miles of fun, sun, and a run. .. alright, that sounded a bit cheesy but you can get the idea.

Changed my whole perspective, I had a new lust for life.

I called everyone I knew afterward to share the good news . ..ya know - [scream] "Woo Hoo!!! I just ran 26.2 miles! Life accomplishment. .." yack-ah-tee-yack "Hey, I kick ass!" You know. .. top of my game attitude / remaining stages of enlightenment, whatever. Followed by a "Yeah, good!" sort of response from my friends and family.

Typically, that would've done it for me (ie. proclaiming greatness and such), however; a treacherous void loomed within me and it seemed nothing could quench the wild, beast like thirst within me.

I called my trainer to see what suggestions a high caliber athlete such as herself might have, given my situation - which I did of course, following last desperate attempts in proclaiming utter greatness. She sympathized, she really did and very compationately. She congratulated me warmly and heard out my sorrowful tale of woe to its bitter end, an end bitter like wilderberries . ..not like coffee from Kenya, even more bitter I'm afraid.

Which was actually quite satisfying and I probably could have left it at that, but instead, what was confided in me was nothing short of life's few great experiences left untapped, a stepping stone to ultimate life fulfillment - the enigmatic challenge of the Triathlon.

So here am I, with my blog . ..facing once again the chasm between present and future, current condition and physical readiness, the post of today and the next post I get around to posting.
